Frequently Asked Questions

We have gathered the questions people ask most often before joining under a few headings.

Before you start

For people taking up exercise for the first time, or coming back after a long break, the first questions are usually “Is this for me?” and “Where do I start?” The short answer: yes, it is for you; and we work out where you start together.

I have never exercised before. Can I start at ATC?

Of course. We offer training options suited to different levels, from beginners to experienced participants. What matters is not where you start from, but that you start from the point that is right for you.

I don’t know which discipline is right for me.

You don’t have to know. By looking at your goals, your experience and your needs, we can decide together on the discipline and way of working that suit you.

Is there an assessment before I start?

Yes. Through our short initial assessment process we learn about your training background, your goals and the points that need attention.

Can I start if I have a health problem?

With some health conditions, an assessment by a doctor or the relevant health professional may be needed before starting exercise. Our initial assessment form helps us to notice situations of this kind.

I’m getting older. Is it too late for me?

We don’t think of there being a particular age limit for starting to move. Programmes are planned around your current condition and your goals, not your age. If you have a health problem, we recommend that you consult your doctor first.

I have been inactive for a long time. Will I struggle?

In the first weeks the aim is not to push you hard, but to get your body used to moving again. The difficulty is increased gradually as you adapt.

Disciplines and classes

At ATC, different disciplines come together under a single movement culture. You can find the details of each discipline on the Disciplines page.

Which disciplines are available at ATC?

We offer a range of movement and training disciplines, chief among them Pilates, fitness and yoga. Our disciplines and programmes continue to develop and diversify from one period to the next.

Are there one-to-one and group classes?

Yes. Depending on the discipline, there are options for working one-to-one or in a group. You can choose the model that suits you according to your goals and preferences.

What level are the classes?

Our programmes are planned for different levels of experience and fitness. We know that someone starting for the first time does not have the same needs as someone who has been exercising for a long time.

Can I take part in more than one discipline?

Yes, the disciplines can complement one another. For example, someone who does fitness can benefit from yoga for range of motion, and someone who practises yoga can benefit from Pilates for core control. You can work out with your trainer which combination makes sense for you.

Can I change my discipline later?

Your goals and preferences may change over time. If they do, you can talk to your trainer and look together for a way to move to a discipline or way of working that suits you better. You can get up-to-date information on the conditions for switching from us.

Which is better, one-to-one or group classes?

It would not be right to say that one is superior to the other. In one-to-one work the programme is built entirely around you; in group work the energy of moving together comes to the fore. The choice depends on your goals and on how you like to work.

The process and progress tracking

A trackable training experience is one of the things that define ATC. We have set out how the process works, step by step, on the Our Approach page.

Is my progress tracked?

Yes. A trackable training experience is one of the important parts of ATC’s core approach. With our technological infrastructure and our trainers’ assessments, we aim to make your process as measurable as possible.

How many days a week should I come?

That depends on your goal, the discipline you choose, your current fitness and your daily life. Our trainers help you to build a routine that is sustainable for you.

What exactly is the technology used for?

We use technology not to turn our members into numbers, but to get to know them better. We track the training process, observe progress and combine the data we gather with our trainers’ experience.

Will my programme change over time?

Yes. The programme is not a fixed list; it is updated according to how your body responds, your progress and your changing goals.

How long will it take to see results?

This varies from person to person; it would not be right to promise a definite timescale or result. Regular attendance, rest and daily habits are the deciding factors. Our aim is to track your progress and make it visible step by step.

What happens if I have to take a break for a while?

Taking a break can be a natural part of the process. When you come back, you continue not from where you left off, but from a point that suits your condition on that day. You can get up-to-date information on the conditions relating to membership from us.

Your first visit and trial class

Can I have a trial class or an introductory meeting?

You can find out about our current trial class and introductory meeting options through our contact form or on WhatsApp.

What is discussed in the introductory meeting?

We talk about your exercise background, your goals, the pace of your daily life and anything we need to be aware of. You can also ask whatever comes to mind about the disciplines, the ways of working and the process.

What should I bring to my first class?

Sports clothes you can move comfortably in and some water are enough. For fitness you need trainers with non-slip soles; yoga is practised barefoot. We share the details specific to each discipline at the first meeting.

Should I eat before a class?

We recommend that you don’t eat a heavy meal just before a class, and that you don’t arrive very hungry either. A light meal an hour or two beforehand suits most people.

Training and daily life

Training is not separate from the rest of the week. Under this heading we have answered the questions we often receive about daily life.

My work is very busy. Is it worthwhile if I can’t come regularly?

A measured programme you can keep up is worth more than an intensive one that doesn’t fit into your life. We set up the weekly routine together around your pace; in busy periods the programme can be lightened.

Is it normal to feel muscle fatigue after training?

When you start a new kind of training, you may feel mild muscle fatigue in the first few days. A sharp or stabbing pain, or one that does not pass within a few days, is a different matter; in that case we recommend that you let your trainer know and see a health professional.

What can I do on my own outside training?

Moving more during the day is a good start: walking, taking the stairs, breaking up long periods of sitting. You can talk to your trainer about suggestions specific to you.

Do you offer nutritional counselling?

A personalised nutrition plan is the province of the relevant specialists. You can find out from us whether a service of this kind is currently available at ATC.

About ATC’s approach

Is ATC a Pilates studio or a gym?

Neither. ATC is a movement space that brings together Pilates, fitness, yoga and other movement disciplines with a scientific approach, technology and qualified trainers.

What does “Training for life” mean?

We believe that performance is needed not only when you are competing, but in the course of life too: climbing the stairs, playing with your child, working, travelling. We see training as preparation for these moments.

I’m not an athlete. Is “Athletic” for me?

Yes. ATC’s story began with exactly this idea: being athletic does not belong to athletes alone. You can read more on the About page.

What kind of relationship will I have with my trainer?

We aim for a setting in which your trainer knows you, knows your goals and cares about your progress. We do not separate professionalism from warmth.

Membership and practical information

Because fees, membership options, the class timetable and opening hours are updated from time to time, we do not include them on this page.

What are the fees and membership options?

You can find out about current membership options and fees through the channels on the contact page.

Where is ATC? What are the opening hours?

The address and opening hours are on the Contact page.

Where can I find the class timetable?

You can find out the current class times for each discipline by writing to us through our contact form or on WhatsApp.

Couldn’t find the answer to your question?

If you have a question that isn’t covered here, simply write to us. If you tell us your goal and what you would like to know in a few sentences, we can give you the most suitable answer. Go to the contact page or read about where ATC set out from on the About page.
